Green technologies like solar power were conceived when concerns about the planet’s dire situation started to pick pace. At present, the pollution levels are so high that we probably need to generate approximately 15TW or usable energy from renewable (carbon-neutral) sources by 20250 in order to balance out the atmospheric CO2 concentration. Given that solar power has the greatest potential for meeting this requirement.

As Richard Perez, a senior research associate at Atmospheric Sciences Research Center at SUNY-Albany believes, solar is the probably the only long-term supply-side energy solution that is sufficiently gigantic and acceptable to sustain the planet’s enduring necessities. He mentioned that the only other alternative that comes close in terms of power generated is nuclear power. The two are the only global solutions to supply civilization with the mammoth energy requirements.

Estimates show that on average, the power from the sun striking the earth’s surface is 175 W/2. If only 10 percent of this incident solar energy could be converted to electricity, supplying the energy requirements of the United States, that alone would require about 2 percent of land in the US to be covered with solar cells, which is about the total area of North Dakota.

One of the greatest historical obstacles to solar-fueled civilization has always been the lack of low efficiency and high-cost photovoltaic cells. Society today seems more inclined to take up an interest in solar energy, at both the smaller residential level and on a larger scale of things. This could have something to do with a host of contributing factors being pieced together, including a significant drop in cost, the emergence of more efficient solar cells, an improved taxation and supervisory setting.

Already, Tesla has developed revolutionary technology that seems set to take the world by storm. The invention of solar-powered rooftops means that individuals can now harness electrical power right from the comfort of their homes. Some of the Best Outdoor Solar Flood Lights in the market offer great convenience in terms of lighting up homes. The fact that these kinds of lights eliminate the need to implement wiring solutions.

The cost of solar modules from some of the top Chinese solar manufacturers between the years 2014 and 2014, dropped by about 60 percent, which translates to about #1.31 a watt in 2011 up to 0.50 a watt in 2014. The cost of solar power has been rapidly cut down thanks to federal and local subsidiaries getting into the math.

With all the new financing options available, this has led to a more affordable scene. At present, one doesn’t need to have thousands of dollars in cash at the ready in order to venture into solar. There’s always the option to rent the system whilst saving on energy bills in order to get a loan that allows some wiggle room in terms on system ownership, especially with $0 down and almost zero costs of installation. The only catch lies in the premiums paid through interest on the loan.
